A Growing Community

Incorporated in 1906, the City of Woodland, located 20 miles north of Vancouver, Washington, is the southern gateway to Mount St. Helens. The city is located within both Cowlitz and Clark Counties. This growing community, with a population of nearly 7,000, is located at the junction of Interstate 5 and State Highway 503. The greater Woodland area has a population of over 10,000 persons. Woodland has become a hotspot for residential development with multiple housing projects underway.

The City of Woodland is home to nearly 7,000 residents with the greater Woodland area boasting around 10,000 persons.

Location 

 

The City of Woodland is located on the Columbia River at the junction of Interstate-5 and State Highway 503, 20 miles north of Vancouver, Washington, and is the southern gateway to Mt. St. Helens. The city straddles both Cowlitz and Clark Counties within the breathtaking Lewis River Valley. Woodland boasts a bustling port, easy access to Interstate 5, and a short 28-minute drive to Portland International Airport.

With Woodland’s access to a variety of amenities including, but not limited to: the Public Library, Horseshoe Lake, charming downtown, Scott Hill Sports Complex, a bustling school system, and yearly festivals, it’s perfect for families and visitors alike. Woodland is one of the oldest communities in Washington state and serves as a gateway to Mt. St. Helens and the Lewis River recreational areas.

Port of Woodland

 

The Port of Woodland finds itself uniquely primed for development. Its Rose Way Industrial Park is a recent $4 million investment in infrastructure with buildings available for  light industrial and manufacturing businesses. As a community partner, the Port of Woodland places importance on economic growth, but also strives to provide recreational opportunities and improve the quality of life of residents and visitors.

Woodland is home to the southern entrance to Mount St. Helens: a great place for adventurers of all skill levels. Along State Highway 503 you can find camping at one of many pristine lakes or winter sports at Marble Mountain Snow Park. Summit Mount St. Helens via Climber’s Bivouac or hike to June Lake, Lewis River Falls, or the Ape Caves. Visit the historic Cedar Creek Grist Mill or learn about the Native Peoples of North America through a living history performance at the Lelooska Foundation and Cultural Center. Whether you would like to fish, hike, mountain bike, ride horses, kayak, boat or visit the many small communities along the way – the south gateway to Mount St. Helens has something for everyone!

Woodland sports a variety of amenities including Horseshoe Lake, a bustling school system, thriving commercial areas, charming downtown, public library, Scott Hill Sports Complex, and the Lewis River golf course. Woodland is known for its Planter’s Days – it starts with the coronation of a Planter’s Day Queen and includes a carnival, car show, parade, fireworks, and a variety of entertainment. The celebration is the oldest of its type in the Pacific Northwest and reflects Woodland’s passion for tradition. Woodland is also home to the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens and its world-renowned tulip fields.
