Woodland Area
Recreational Opportunities

Woodland, platted in 1889 and incorporated in 1906 was originally called the "Bottoms" by early settlers, and later became known as Pekin. The name Woodland came from the farm of Squire and Mildred Bozarth, which was named for the many fir trees that grew there. The first store in Woodland, named "Woodland", opened in 1881 by Christopher Columbus Bozarth.
Woodland is one of the oldest communities in Washington state and serves as the southern gateway to Mt. St. Helens and the Lewis River recreational areas.
