Kalama is home to approximately 2,600 residents who define the true definition of small town charm. Growth is strategically planned to keep Kalama’s small-town atmosphere. One housing development was completed recently with additional housing plans underway.

Kalama is a bustling recreation and tourism hub. Amenities include the the Port's Mountain Timber Market, Westin Amphitheater, and trails. Kalama has several parks, numerous restaurants, public library, unique boutique shopping, as well as fishing, boating, and kayaking along the Columbia and Kalama rivers and at Kress Lake. Kalama is also the home to the annual Kalama Community Fair, Kalama Cultural Festival, and the Untouchables Car Show.

Highlights of the Port include sweeping riverfront industrial acreage, deep draft river channel for import/export, and the largest grain elevator on the west coast.
